The Indian players are finally back home after three months from their gruelling tour of Australia and New Zealand. They received a heartwarming welcome at the Mumbai airport. The loudest cheers were for former Indian skipper MS Dhoni who had a very good tour overall. While he was adjudged as the Man of the Series against Australia, he came up with useful knocks against the Kiwis.

Rohit Sharma, who became a proud father just before the NZ tour was seen playing with his daughter. Rohit led the team in the final two ODIs and the T20Is against the Kiwis. Rohit scored 169 runs from 5 matches in the ODIs and 89 runs from three games in the T20Is. Despite his best efforts as captain, he failed to inspire India to their maiden T20I win against the Kiwis.

The Indian spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal shared pictures from their respective Twitter handle as well, upon their return to India. The duo picked up 17 wickets in the ODI series altogether and played a key role in India’s ODI series win over the Blackcaps after 10 years.

Dinesh Karthik was delighted to be back home and enjoyed some Indian food upon his return. He was very close to helping India win the third and final T20I in Hamilton where he scored 33 off 16 balls, but the knock wasn’t enough to take his side home. Since he helped India win the Nidahas Trophy courtesy his last-ball six against Bangladesh, he has donned the finisher’s hat along with MS Dhoni in the Indian batting line up.

All in all, it was a good tour for the players who took this as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming World Cup. There were some really good performances from the various Indian players who strengthened their case for their World Cup selection.

Team India, now host Australia for a limited-overs series including two T20Is and five ODIs from February before heading into the IPL from March and then to the World Cup in June.
